Pre-washed play sand for hamsters.
Use for sand pits and baths.
Note that due to our previous sand supplier disappearing, we have switched to another that supplies completely natural sand. The colour and texture of sand may differ between batches from the supplier, but we assure you it is all safe and with no added silica.
Can be used for Potties, although we do recommend Bentonite for better hygiene, minimal odour, & economy.
The bath sand has been pre-washed and semi-dried but further drying and sterilizing is recommended:
- Spread some into one or two shallow oven dishes and bake at 180°C for 20-30 minutes, stirring once or twice until JUST dry.
- DON’T OVER BAKE as it will become dry and brittle.
- Allow it to cool.
- OPTIONAL (but not usually necessary): sift to remove the coarser grains and any debris as you decant into a convenient container.
